The coat of all coats (and a trip to Edinburgh)

Coat - ASOS
Jumper - GAP

Culottes - H&M
Trainers - Vans via FootAsylum

I went to Edinburgh for a little pre-Christmas holiday last week and it was so amazing! I absolutely love city breaks, and after going to Brussels last year, I definitely wanted to go away again this year. I'd never been to Edinburgh before, so it was really nice to explore the city and visit the markets and generally get into the festive spirit - I've literally never listened to so many Christmas songs in such a short amount of time before. Love you Mariah.

Anyway, I'm so sad to be home. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and I would love to go back, maybe in summer to see more of what it has to offer! These photos were taken up at the castle that sits in the middle of the city, next to Old Town and Grassmarket - where we found some pretty little pubs to drink gallons of wine in. By no means do I know my way around Edinburgh, but I'm tempted to upload a photo diary of where we went and what we did!

I bought this coat on ASOS as soon as I spotted it on the new in section during a 1am browse. It is my dreammmm coat, one I've been searching for, for actual months. There was a similar one by Topshop Boutique a couple of years ago that I've been moping about for so long. I was convinced that massive puffer coats were a thing of my primary school past, but I'm finding that I'm more and more gravitationally pulled towards them every time I go into a Zara. This ASOS version sold out in about two days so I'm mega happy with having got my hands on it! It's a Christmas miracle. Lol.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas!!

**I don't think I could have mentioned Christmas more times in this post**

Life update

Necklace - H&M (similar)
Cullottes - H&M (similar)

I haven't posted properly in so long! But with good reason. I have recently started a new job, so in between spending time on a training course in Reading and the awful winter weather ruining any chance of looking half decent, I just haven't had chance to take photographs. I'm still searching for that perfect indoor spot with perfect lighting - but this is as good as it's going to get for now...

I've started working for H&M Home at the new Selfridges concession in the Trafford centre. It's a part time sales role - so not a 9-5 office type just yet - but after a long summer of writing CV's, online applications and interviews, I decided to give myself a bit of a break. It was all starting to get on top of me and wear me down. I couldn't find anything I was seriously passionate about and everything I applied for seemed to lead to a dead end. I wasn't sleeping at all because I was so stressed and my whole outlook was completely miserable. It took a bit of exasperation from my boyfriend at how irrational I was being towards myself, but I finally sat down and stopped and reassessed everything I was doing.

At the moment I feel fine about my life, my job and, kind of even the future. I know it's not going to be forever, but it's more than good enough for now. I feel a lot more motivated and confident in myself and my abilities. And earning a bit of money to be able to treat myself and have a nice time makes it all seem OK! I think the pressure of graduating from uni and walking into a job is way too intense. Nobody seems to say 'it's OK to still not know what you want to do with your life.' Or, 'it's OK if you don't want to do anything related to your degree just yet - if at all!'

For now, I'm fine with saving up for going to New York, drinking a lot of mulled wine and getting out of bed everyday to go to work somewhere I actually enjoy!

Boot season

It's finally boot season! My collection of black leather boots has steadily grown over the past couple of years, but there's always, always room for more. Rather than going for the standard Chelsea boot, or plain chunky heeled type; this year I'm after a pair with a little bit of something different. I've compiled this list of a few I've found that tick every box for me...

ASOS can do no wrong in my opinion. I think we can all agree that their shoe section is a delight all year round. On my nightly 'new in' browse I noticed this pair. The seventies heel is something I'm obsessed with right now - I literally can't get enough of flared everything - it's starting to become a problem...

I've wanted a pair of metallic silver boots for the longest time, but I've never actually found a pair I love. These have the perfect combination of pointed toe and silver heel that I need in my life! The heel is just the right height for everyday wearability too. I also love their slight western shape, that isn't overly 'cowboy boot'.

I always end up trawling round Clarks with my desert boot obsessed boyfriend, and can quite honestly say I have never seen a pair of shoes that I actually wanted for myself. Until now! Who'd have thunk it ey. That suede panel is everything and the high rise makes them slightly different to most of my other ankle boots. I find myself either going for higher rise boots or incredibly low ones, purely because they're not something you see everywhere! Perfecto.

I've had my eye on these beauties for a while. They're the priciest of the lot, but totally worth the splurge in my opinion. I've seen a few similar styles with an elastic strap over the foot, but none quite appeal as much as these ones from COS! Definitely a Christmas List number.

So there you have it. I hope you're all now happily staring at shoes on the internet!

Long time, no blog

I feel like I've been away from blogging for so long! I do have my reasons though. For starters, nobody will take photos for me. Simply because there's either no time, no camera or I'm having a bad hair/outfit/life day. Secondly, I've just managed to get myself a job and I've been in Reading for a long week of training and inductions. Now that I'm finally getting a wage again, it will hopefully inspire me start shopping and get blogging!

This is kind of a nothingness post, but I just wanted to get something up and get back into the swing of things...

I'm thinking about asking for a SLR bridge camera for christmas but I literally have no idea what's what or what's best for outfit shots. Any tech-y camera tips would be hugely appreciated!

Buy the shoes

I am a firm believer in the opposing saying that 'money can buy happiness.' Yes, I completely agree that money can't buy love, friends or a state of mind. However, money can buy festival tickets, plane tickets, concert tickets and new shoes. These shoes, to be exact. I rarely treat myself to anything full price, when I know it will always end up in the sale - and ASOS didn't disappoint! Yes, they're slightly unseasonal, given that winter is coming... But how could I turn down these lace up, studded platforms for half price? Anyway, life's too short. Buy the shoes.

A headscarf is a girl's best friend...

Top : Uniqlo
Jeans : Topshop (similar here)
Headscarf : Oxfam
Earrings : Topshop sale

This headscarf has been my saviour this summer. Not only did I wear it as an actual scarf throughout Glastonbury, to shield my shoulders from the sun, but also in my hair, pretty much every day. I never know what to do with my hair, I've never been interested in learning how to style, curl or whatever it. Most of the time it's scragged up in a top knot anyway, so at least a headscarf makes it a little bit more exciting! I bought this from an Oxfam festival stall - who have a very, very good range of scarves. I interned at Oxfam for six months, and their vintage scarf section was my absolute favourite!

I've been a bad blogger again, but I've been so getting a job that I had to put blogging on the back burner for a while! Hopefully over the next few weeks I'll get back into it, and with a little bit more of an income, I can actually spend a bit of money on updating my wardrobe!

A neutral palette

Hello! I've been quite busy this week and this is the first time I've had to myself to sit down and write a post! Also - side by side pictures?! Never before have they worked so easily for me. Usually I spend a good half an hour playing with HTML codes to get them to line up - but not today! They went into place all by themselves. Cheers Blogger.

At the moment, I'm super obsessed with tonal dressing, as I have been for a good year. I'm trying to in-cooperate more and more neutral tones into my wardrobe, as I love how easily they work together as a whole. It makes dressing like you actually come from Scandinavia all the more simple. What's not to love?
